Long-distance

Long-distance towing from Dallas.

A tow across town and a tow to another city are planned differently. Long-distance work is scheduled around the truck, and the price is mostly miles plus the vehicle.

Planned, not a dash

This is a scheduled trip.

Emergency dispatch is for a car that is stuck now, somewhere in the Dallas area. A haul to Austin, Houston, Oklahoma, or across the state is a different shape of job. The truck is committed for hours, the route matters, and the quote has to include the empty miles back unless there is a load the other way, which we will not pretend we have. Call with both addresses. A pickup in south Dallas and a drop at a shop in Waco is a number we can give. A pickup 'somewhere near Dallas' and a drop 'near Houston' is not.

What rides on the truck

Flatbed for the cars that should not roll.

All-wheel drive, a low car, a vehicle with a bad wheel, or anything you do not want bouncing on two tires for a few hundred miles should go on a flatbed. A running, front-wheel-drive car can travel on a wheel-lift for a shorter hop, and dispatch will say which they would actually use. Motorcycles, a second vehicle, or a car that will not go into neutral need to be mentioned before the truck is booked, because they change the equipment and the time at each end. We do not publish a per-mile card. The honest answer is the one given for your two addresses and your vehicle.

What to have ready

Keys, a destination that is open, and someone at both ends.

A long tow fails in boring ways: the destination shop is closed, nobody can sign, the car is blocked in a garage the flatbed cannot enter, or the keys are with a person who is already on a flight. Say who will meet the truck in Dallas and who will meet it at the other end. If the car is at 1241 Willow Glen's side of town or anywhere else in the metro, the pickup is the easy half. The drop is the half to plan. If you need it moved overnight, ask. Do not assume a long haul leaves the moment you hang up. Emergency calls in Dallas come first, and a planned trip is fitted around them.

Inside the metro

DFW is not long-distance.

Arlington, Fort Worth, Irving, and the southern suburbs are ordinary local tows from our Dallas base, even when the drive is a real one. Long-distance starts when the drop is outside that working area. If you are not sure which you are asking for, give both addresses and let dispatch sort it. A junk car that has to leave the state is the same conversation: distance, whether it rolls, and whether you can show you own it. The phone number is the same 24-hour line. For a planned haul, calling in the daytime just makes it easier to line up a shop's hours at the far end.

Common questions

Questions about this.

Do you charge by the mile?

Miles are most of the price, along with the type of vehicle and how it has to be loaded. There is no rate card on this page. Ask for a figure with both addresses and the make and model.

Can you take it today?

Sometimes. A long tow ties up a truck for the whole trip, and a breakdown in Dallas can move it back. Ask what the day actually looks like rather than assuming a departure time.
